The Guthrie County Times Vedette has a long and varied history with various titles dating back more than 100 years. Today, the newspaper is named the Times Vedette, as it was a merger of the Guthrie Center Times and the Guthrie County Vedette by prior owners.

The Times Vedette was purchased by Big Green Umbrella Media (BGUM) in July of 2022. Shane Goodman is the owner of BGUM, which also publishes CITYVIEW magazine in Des Moines and 13 different Iowa Living magazines in the Des Moines suburbs, as well as a variety of digital offerings, website development and events. The company’s main office is located in Johnston.

Goodman and his wife, Jolene (who serves as the advertising director for BGUM), own a home in Guthrie County and are actively involved in the communities their company serves.

The Times Vedette is a weekly paid subscription newspaper with a supporting website of  www.gctimesnews.com. BGUM also publishes the Lake Panorama Times, which is a free monthly newspaper mailed to all property owners at Lake Panorama.

The print version of the Guthrie County Times Vedette is mailed to subscribers each week and available for sale on single copy racks. The newspaper is also available through a paywall in a digital format at www.guthriecountynewspapers.com. The Times Vedette covers news, sports and community events and is an official legal publication of Guthrie County, the Panorama School District and other entities.
